Being a parent in the digital age is much more complex than it was before the rise of technology.
The use of technology on a daily basis brings new and difficult challenges because it is now the parent’s responsibility to protect their children from the dangers of digital life. Kids, on the other hand, are very familiar with different ways of technology since they have grown up in the digital age, this makes them more dependent on digital devices than any previous generations.
Children today use computers and smartphones to socialize but also have become a necessity at school, that is why most parents worry about their children’s safety, especially when they are on the internet.
One of the best ways to keep your child safe online is by installing parental control apps on their devices (phones, tablets, and computers).
Parental controls are useful software that allows parents backdoor access to the internet. Parents can easily control children’s internet usage, control the content children can access, set profiles for each family member, filter and block specific content, and more.
There are several types of controls, so parents should understand these three different control types:
Network Level- These are set on the router and apply to any devices connected to that router in your home.
Device Level - These let you set specific controls on each device, such as a Smartphone or a tablet, and the controls apply no matter where the device is connected.
Application Level - These restrictions are set on each application or platform that is being used. For example, parental controls can apply to YouTube or Google.
